Some hard-to-decarbonize sectors such as aviation, rail, and shipping get a huge opportunity to reduce emissions and support high-quality jobs across rural America. Broad goal initiative is to achieve cost-competitive biofuels, and reaching a net-zero carbon economy by 2050.

DOE supports the idea of fostering innovation from lab to market, so then to develop biofuel technologies on a production scale and create economic incentives for companies to adopt them.
